Idea
The first mobile application for an interior-design-planner – virtual living with the new IKEA PS collection.
To overcome the purchase-barrier "lack of imagination", a mobile application that allowed the user to observe the furniture in his domestic setting using the integrated phone camera was developed –a kind of mobile interior-design-planner. With the IKEA PS interior-design-planner camera, customers could see how the IKEA PS collection would like in their homes.
Realization
Distribution of the application in the IKEA Launch Store Moorfleet via Bluetooth and via SMS-demand on the IKEA PS microsite.
The customer stores the application on his mobile phone and can position the furniture in a given room at anytime. Various IKEA PS furniture are stored in the application and are to be seen graphically on the phone display. The user can place the furniture in his domestic setting and take a picture of the "new" room using the integrated camera.
Innovation
The IKEA Interior-Design-Planner camera achieved to stimulate the imagination of the customer. Every customer can virtually test the IKEA PS collection in his home.
