
CLANMO wins Global Mobile Awards 2010
CLANMO receives award for IKEA PS Mobile Interior Planning Tool
Best Mobile Marketing and Advertising Campaign 2009 Worldwide
As part of the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, on 16th February 2010 GSMA announced the winners of the Global Mobile Awards 2010. As the only – and to date the first – German agency, CLANMO won the award for the worldwide Best Mobile Marketing and Advertising Campaign.
What is likely the most prestigious mobile award presented by the GSMA, the international association for the mobile communications industry, went to CLANMO for an app the agency had developed for IKEA in 2009. The jury had praise not only for the uniqueness of the idea but also for its significance for the future of a broad mobile market: ‘The IKEA PS Mobile Interior Planning Tool is a very innovative approach which can be easily deployed to more markets and can be associated with the innovation of the IKEA brand name.’
With the IKEA PS Mobile Interior Planning Tool, the Swedish furniture store has given its customers a handy planning tool for home furnishing. The IKEA PS furniture is stored in the app and appears on the cell phone screen when selected by the user. With the aid of the camera built into the telephone, an image of the furnishings selected can then be stitched into a snapshot of the customer’s own four walls to give a better sense of how it would look on location. Rather than rely on imagination alone to provide some sense of how the new acquisition might look, Augmented Reality is used to let customers see the new objects “live” in their potential new surroundings. CLANMO developed the idea and concept for the prize-winning app in conjunction with Ogilvy One.
